Ready to Build a Cult Following? Here’s How!

Hey Reader,

Hope you're doing great!

I wanted to share some tips on building a cult following for your brand. It's all about connecting with your audience and making them feel like they're part of something special.

Here’s a simple guide to get you started:

1. Tell Your Story

First, define your narrative. What’s the story your brand tells? Think about how you want people to describe your content in three words. Also, consider the emotion you want your audience to feel after they see your content.

For example, Nike’s “Just Do It” inspires motivation and action. To get started, jot down three words that describe your brand and decide on the key emotion you want to evoke in your audience.

2. Craft Your Mission

Next, craft a mission statement that resonates with your audience and goes beyond just selling products. It’s about the impact you want to make.

Differentiate between your internal mission, which drives your team, and your external mission, which your audience rallies behind. Write a mission statement that focuses on the value you bring to your audience and make sure it aligns with your brand’s story.

3. Champion a Cause

Identify a cause that your audience can rally behind. This could be a shared challenge, a common goal, or a positive change you want to see in the world.

For example, Midday Squares focuses on promoting healthier snack options, while Kettle & Fire emphasises the importance of nutrition.

4. Introduce Characters

Humanise your brand by introducing characters that your audience can relate to. These could be founders, employees, or even loyal customers.

Show the growth and journey of these characters to keep your audience engaged. Introduce key characters in your content and share stories and updates about them regularly.

5. Content Pillars and Purpose

Create consistent content pillars that serve a clear purpose, whether it's raising awareness, driving engagement, or boosting conversions.

Ensure every piece of content aligns with your mission and values. A content pillar is a central theme or topic you want to emphasize. Define your content pillars, such as promoting, educating, engaging, inspiring, and entertaining.

6. Create Social Series

Develop repeatable formats that your audience can look forward to. This helps form habits and keeps your audience coming back. Ensure each series communicates your mission and values.

Plan out a few social series ideas and schedule regular content for these series to build consistency.

Building genuine relationships is crucial for allowing your audience to feel included in something remarkable. You have the power to inspire, engage, and nurture a community that wholeheartedly backs your mission.

Embrace your confidence and make a positive difference! The world is ready to hear your unique voice and vision. You’ve got this!
