Your email list isn’t dead, it’s just sleeping

Hi Reader,

So, I had this moment the other day staring at my email dashboard, watching open rates slowly dip like a tired Wi-Fi signal. You know the feeling?

You work hard on your emails. You write something you think is actually good, hit send… and nothing.

It's like your list collectively decided to ghost you. But here’s the thing your subscribers aren’t gone. They’re just not listening right now. And that’s fixable.

Let’s talk about waking them back up (without yelling in all caps 😅).

1. The win-back email (aka: the “hey, remember me?”)

These are basically love letters to your subscribers. Gentle, personal, maybe with a light offer or a reminder of what they signed up for in the first place.

Data backs this up: win-back campaigns can revive up to 45% of disengaged subscribers, according to Klaviyo. That’s almost half of your “dead list” just waiting for the right nudge.

Try subject lines like:

  • “Still want to hear from us?”
  • “We miss you (and we’ve got something for you)”
  • “Time to reconnect?”

2. Segment the snoozers

Not all quiet subscribers are the same. Some opened every email last year and just got busy. Others may have never clicked once.

Break them into groups based on behavior then speak directly to where they’re at. You wouldn’t talk to a warm lead and a cold lead the same way, right?

Email segmentation boosts open rates by 46% on average (Mailchimp found that out), and honestly it just makes your emails feel more personal.

3. Know when to let go

This one’s tough love, but necessary: sometimes the kindest thing you can do for your list (and your deliverability) is to part ways with the truly inactive folks.

Give them a heads-up first with a “Last call do you still want these emails?” message. You might be surprised how many come back just because you asked.

TL;DR: If your open rates are low, your list isn’t broken it’s just bored. Shake things up with:

✅ Thoughtful win-back emails
✅ Smart segmentation
✅ A gentle clean-up when needed

You’ve already got their email address. You just need to remind them why they signed up in the first place.

Talk soon,
Tristan

Influencer marketing still works (even on a tight budget)

Hi Reader, Let’s clear something up real quick: Influencer marketing still works. And you don’t need to drop thousands to make it work for you. The #1 reason they’re not buying (yet)

Feeling ghosted by the algorithm? Try this.

Hi Reader, It’s frustrating, right? You post, you wait, and all you get is a handful of likes from your mum and your business bestie. But here’s the thing, people want to interact with brands, we just need to make it easier (and more fun) for them to jump in. In 2025, interactive content like polls, quizzes, and giveaways isn’t just a nice extra. It’s one of the most effective ways to boost engagement, especially on platforms like Instagram and TikTok where algorithms love conversations....
